Hey you! Wipe that frown off of your face!
Within just a span of a few weeks, the quality of life has gone downhill affecting the lives of millions of people globally. It’s almost as if we are living in the Twilight Zone! Unemployment has sky rocketed, death is rampant, and there seems to be no end to this nightmare. More and more states are implementing the stay at home order, stores are being emptied out, and once thriving businesses remained closed. According to the Washington Post, nearly 45 percent of adults living in the United States say the pandemic has had a negative impact on their mental health. Statistically speaking, that is a huge number considering that’s about half of the adults in the US! These are truly sad times that we are living in and news outlets just make it worse. Instead of false promises and scares, what we really right is a sign of hope and prosperity. That big, beautiful light at the end of the tunnel just seems so far away. It’s one thing after the other with this virus. I dream of a day when everything is back to normal and this stupid virus has become a thing of the past. A day when we are no longer fearful of our lives, paper towels are fully stocked on shelves, and everything has fully opened back up. One lesson that Ms. Rona has taught us all is to value the little things in life and don’t take them for granted. The things that we once enjoyed have all been taken away from us leaving us sad and miserable.
During a stressful situation like this, the best thing to do is live, laugh, and be merry! Laugh until your belly hurts and tears start streaming down your eyes. They say we are at war with this virus and with the way everyone’s mental health is set up right now, we are being defeated both emotionally and psychologically. As I’ve gotten to know Ms. Rona over the past couple of weeks, I have discovered that she is nothing but a bully who enjoys wreaking havoc on anyone she comes in contact with. One thing that we have to remember with bullies is that they tend to go for who they feel is weak and afraid to stand up for themselves. What we cannot do is allow her to get to us! She may have taken away everything from us that brings us joy, but what we are NOT going to do not let her win by attacking us mentally. Stand up to this bully and show no fear! Live life without a fear or care in the world and be the joyful person that you once were! For the sake of your mental health take a moment to hop off social media, turn off the tv, sit down with family or friends, and laugh this thing off. Laughter is truly the best medicine out there right now that can help aid in mending a broken spirit. Unlike most medications being sold on the market, laughter is free, potent, and an unlimited resource that is readily available for anyone’s usage.
