The phrase “be thankful for everything you have in life” is one that I would always hear growing up and it STILL resonates with me to this day. We all have our wants and desires, but at the end of the day how you are really doing? We often stress over the material things in life, which I mean there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, but what about just being happy with the essential necessities of life? That brand new car that you want, those diamond earrings, and that designer purse that you’ve been looking at for months are all what I like to call “wants”. While sure these things are nice to look at and even an ego booster to some people, but you do not need these things to get by in life. Regardless of where you are in life financially as long as you have a roof over your head, food to eat, clothing to keep you warm, and some sort of income coming in I’d say you are truly blessed! Stop worrying about what other people do or have. Trying to keep up with the Jones’ will do nothing good for you because what’s going to end up happening is that you’ll eventually end up miserable and looking crazy trying live outside of your means. Instead, try focusing that energy on yourself and do what you need to do to survive. With a positive outlook on life, you’ll come to the realization that you can still be successful by just having the basic necessities to keep you alive and thriving. You may not have the money right now to show for it but guess what, whether you know it or not, YOU ARE STILL WINNING AT LIFE!
Life is not a competition which is why we should NEVER compare our success to others. Success is gained though both motivation and drive. You may not be where you want to be at the moment but trust me, as long as you put the work in, you’ll get there eventually. We all deserve the nice things in life but we also have to remember that those things will all come in time and don’t always guarantee happiness. The struggle gets real for everyone at some point, but since we are all in control of our own destiny’s, it only lasts as long as YOU want it to. This is why it is important to BE THANKFUL for what you have at the moment, because there’s someone out there who may have it worse than you.
