Clutter and disorganization are one of the triggers for anxiety which is why it is important to keep your space neat. Not only is it an eyesore to walk in to clutter but it can also elevate your stress levels as well. When your stress levels are high, it can definitely make your anxiety worse! This is why it is pertinent for you to keep the junk away in order to keep you anxiety at bay!

Dirty Room? Where?!!
Get out your cleaning supplies and start cleaning! If you start feeling uneasy or anxious due to a messy room, the best thing to do is start cleaning. Think of it as “Cleaning Therapy” and do it whenever you are feeling uneasy (or of course because you need to). I know cleaning can sometimes be a daunting task but think of it as scrubbing all your worries away. If you find yourself getting bored while cleaning, turn on some music and start cleaning to the beat. Shake those dust bunnies off and slide that mop across the floor! Once done, look around the room and marvel at your hard work. Not only will you feel amazed and proud of how clean your space is, but you’ll also notice that you are no longer anxious. Help yourself out by keeping things clean and pretty. For the sake of your mental health, don’t allow things to pile up and get messy.
New Room, Who Dis?
Keep the Feng Sui of your space balanced with good organizational skills. Just like with most things, organizational skills can be learned. If you weren’t born with this gift, don’t worry, you’ll pick up on it eventually once you develop a routine. Stop throwing things everywhere and start getting organized! Get into the habit of putting things where they are supposed to go and create special spaces for them as well. Place your items in storage bins and decorations on shelves. Add it to your self-care routine and you’ll be amazed at how good it feel to be able to walk into a room without seeing clutter everywhere. It’ll be like your room got a makeover.
“Plug It In, Plug It In…”
Yesss!! Do exactly like the Glade commercials used to say back in the day and plug it them thangs in honey! I don’t care what you use whether it’s the Glade plugs-in, Febreeze, Lysol, Pine Sol, or even essential oils, keep your space smelling good and clean! Think of it as if it’s your body. If it doesn’t make you feel good to stink and you can’t stand the smell of your own funk (if you smell this bad by the way it might be time to hop in the tub…just saying..), then why keep your space that way? In regards to good smelling spaces, have you ever noticed how great a spa spells? As soon as you walk in the wonderful smell of Eucalyptus fills your nose and without even having to sit in the massage chair you instantly feel relaxed. Aromatherapy is a thing for a reason. One of the great benefits of it is that it helps ease your anxiety and can be quite relaxing as well. The next time you spray out your air freshener or plug in one of your favorite scents to the wall, take a moment to just take the scent in and allow it to caress your nose. Be careful not to do it too long though. We don’t want you getting high off of your Apple Spice scented Febreze air deodorizer.
